Birthdate:Oct 22
Location:United States of America
30ish expat Canadian; a scientist with delusions of writerly abilities. I’ve been lurking about the fringes of HP fandom since 2005 (and earlier, inasmuch as fandom exists IRL). I’m still mostly lurking, and this journal’s not terribly fannish. But feel free to say 'hi!' – drop me a message, and I’ll be happy to ‘friend’ you. I'm a genial sort, as Slytherins go, but do be prepared for regular doses of teaching/research snark. Also, I have to disclose that I do scrub my flist occasionally as a safety policy -- I sometimes post things that I'd rather not disseminate to the world at large. If you wander by and see that I've bumped you, it's definitely not personal, just that you haven't commented in a long time. Don't feel blue about it, just message me and you'll be reinstated posthaste. For lurkers -- Hullo! -- fannish things are usually public and/or left open for a few days.

I'm zigadenus at Dreamwidth, as well, but it's a back-up, and not routinely checked.

Philosophy of Fanworks

In The Truth About Stories, Thomas King writes"The truth about stories is that's all we are." Let me borrow some of his words to express my hopes for how we can interact with the inchoate cultural properties we create from the works of others, namely these modern myths of the age of digital disconnect: "Take this story. It's yours. Do with it what you will." Read it, analyze it, feel it. "Share it with friends. Or forget it. But don't say in the years to come that you would have lived your life differently if only you had heard this story. You've heard it now."

While I would appreciate the courtesy of your getting in touch with me if you remix my work (so I can squee over what you've done), I do hereby distribute the afore-mentioned fanworks under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, insofar as these works, having been produced in the United States of America without profit or expectation thereof, do constitute fair use of, and transformative content (17 U.S.C. § 107) inspired by, novels held under literary copyright by British author JK Rowling.
Creative Commons License

So take these stories. They are yours.
